The next big event in Pearl is the upcoming Solar Eclipse and Pearl Bluegrass weekend, April 5, 6, and 7. To sign up for RV space, go to www.eventbrite.com/o/pearl-texas-community-center. Also on that Saturday, the Pearl Bookstore will be open from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. It will be a huge weekend in Pearl, so make your plans now.
We haven’t checked in with the Pleasure and Profit Club in a while, so let’s do that now: March 17, 1933—The club met with Mrs. Fred Robinson. We spent a very pleasant evening cutting quilt pieces, hemming cup towels, whipping lace, tatting, embroidering, and patching. The Vice President called the house to order. The minutes were read and approved. Thirteen members answered roll call. We had one visitor but no new members. The Club Rally was discussed, and ten members thought they could go. But we decided to send in twelve names. We also decided to send Aunt Bitha Edmondson a card. With no other business, we adjourned to meet with Bessie Smith next club day. The hostess served pickles, sandwiches, cookies, grape juice, and homemade candy.
