Robert Allen (Bob) Valenca, age 74, of Gatesville, passed away Wednesday, February 1, 2023, at his residence. A graveside service with military honors will be Wednesday, February 22, at 2 p.m. at Dallas Ft. Worth National Cemetery.
Bob was born on September 27, 1948, in Danbury, Connecticut to the late Manuel and Elizabeth (Otis) Valenca. He joined the U.S. Navy and served proudly for 35 years, until his retirement in 1995. August 12, 1968, he married Joy Johnson in San Diego, California. Bob was a lifelong member of the VFW as well as the American Foreign Legion.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Beverly; and grandchildren, Isaac Bueno and Cameron Valenca.
Bob is survived by his wife, Joy; daughter, Kara Yocom and husband, Matt; son, Rob Valenca and wife, Donna; siblings, Ken, Manny, Al, Carol, Betty, Tony, Rick, and Keith; grandchildren, Bethany Hurtado and husband, Donovan, Christopher Bueno, Jr. and wife, Jennifer, Kaitlyn Yocom, Hannah Bueno, Matthew Yocom, Aaron Yocom, Shelbi Valenca, and Devon Valenca; and great grandchild, Laura Hurtado.
