The annual Pearl Church of Christ Vacation Bible School begins on May 30 and goes through June 3 from 9 a.m. until noon each day. Everyone is invited to attend and encouraged to bring lots of family and friends with you. The theme for this year is “The Chosen—Let Us Be Fishers of Men.” In case you like to plan ahead, here is a list of each day's theme for VBS:

Monday--USA or Red/White/Blue T-shirt for Memorial Day

Tuesday--The Chosen T-shirt day (will be given out at VBS to all who attend)

Wednesday--Tutu Day/Cowboy Day

Thursday--Hero T-shirt Day

Friday--Camo/Kilt Day

Of course, you can always wear whatever is cool and comfortable if you don't have theme day apparel.

We just hope to see you there at our annual VBS and that you invite others, too.

The next Pearl Bluegrass event will be June 4. Bands can begin playing on the stage at 1 p.m. Jamming goes on all day long. If any band wants to schedule stage time, please contact Ronald Medart at 254 865-6013. Be sure and visit the bluegrass kitchen, open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Saturday, June 4, the Pearl Cottage Book Store and Resale Shop will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Surrounding the bookstore will be our monthly Pearl Flea Market with Junk-In-Your-Trunk. Vendors can come as early as 8 a.m. and leave when you want to since it is so hot. You can bring a trailer full of treasures or a trunk full with the rule of First Come-First Park on the Community Center grounds. There will be a small fee of $5 charged which goes toward the maintenance and upkeep of the Pearl Community Center building and grounds. Let’s grow this every first Saturday event (except for September when we will be open the second Saturday) into the most popular flea market event in the area. We’re inviting anyone to bring their fresh vegetables and/or fruits—only no “already prepared” food items as there will be food in the Pearl Community Center kitchen for sale to benefit the center. If you would like to advertise your business, bring some business cards and join us.

We always have someone interested in real estate, so agents in the area are welcome to set up a booth. People are always asking for recommendations for people who can clear a lot, dig a tank or well, or build a fence. For only $5 a booth, you can get your message out. If any bands would like to come and play under the pavilion or on the stage, you are welcome, especially kid’s bands. (Call Ronald Medart at 254-865-6013 to schedule stage time in advance if you wish.) Come and spend the night on the grounds, RV spaces are available. Sites are also available for longer stays. Full hook-up pull-throughs are available as well. 30 AMPS-$20 per night; 50 AMPS-$25 per night. For more information on renting trailer spaces or the Community Center itself, call 254-223-0621. Pearl Book Store Contact Numbers are 254-865-9282 or 254-865-5864.

The Pearl Church of Christ was honored to give a $1,000 Scholarship in memory of Roger Barnett to Evan Hanson, son of Steve and Kristi Hanson. More scholarships will be given throughout this month.

This week’s Bible Verse: Hebrews 10: 23—We must hold on to the hope we have, never hesitating to tell people about it. We can trust God to do what He promised. ERV
