It’s almost time for the Pearl Bluegrass event and the Pearl Cottage Bookstore and Junk in Your Trunk Day. We hope you will brave whatever weather we have and come on out to Pearl for a fun day of music, food, and shopping. July 2nd is the big day. Here are the particulars:

*The Pearl Community Center opens at 7 a.m. for picking and grinning. No admission fee.

*To sign up to be a part of the free stage show which usually begins around 1 p.m., contact Ronald Medart at 254-865-6013, or contact Liz Patton via Pearl Bluegrass Jam Facebook page (send her a message from that page). You can go to You Tube and search Pearl Bluegrass Jam to see some pictures of last month’s stage bands. We hope there will be many more videos and pictures on You Tube after July’s stage show.

*The Bluegrass kitchen opens at 11 a.m. and closes at 5 p.m. Yummy stuff is available at reasonable prices.

*The Pearl Cottage Bookstore and Resale Shop opens at 10 a.m. and closes at 5 p.m. There are over 6,000 used books in great condition and other sundries to purchase. All proceeds go toward the bookstore’s local charities. You never know what you might find.

*Junk in Your Trunk will be set up on the north side of the Book Cottage. Everyone is welcome to set up a booth or open your trunk for $5 per site—this fee goes toward the upkeep and bills for the Community Center. Selling your vegetables and fruits is welcomed, but no prepared foods are allowed to be sold. You can begin setting up around 8 a.m. and stay till whenever. What a great way to make a little extra money!

ADDITIONAL UPCOMING EVENTS

*The Pearl Church of Christ will have its annual Revival on July 9 and 10. The speakers will be Wil Jackson on Saturday evening and Chris Halpayne for Sunday morning. The Saturday evening service begins at 7 p.m., and the Sunday morning service begins at 10:30 a.m. There will be a homemade ice cream supper following the Saturday evening service, and a brunch/lunch will follow the Sunday morning service. Everyone is invited.

*The quarterly meeting of the Pearl Community Center board will meet on July 25 at 6:30 p.m. Everyone is invited to attend.

*Items for the Labor Day Sunday Scholarship Auction and Fish Fry scheduled for Sept. 4 will be out and ready for bidding in the dining room on August 21 at the Pearl Church of Christ.

PRAYER NEEDS

*We have several in the community that need prayers for healing. Please keep those who are ill in your prayers for speedy and complete recovery.

*Please pray for rain. Joe Baisden, one of the beloved preachers who often visited in Pearl said that there is no such thing as too much rain in Texas.

*Please pray for our nation.

This week’s Bible verse: “No one who hopes in You will ever be put to shame, but shame will come on those who are treacherous without cause. Show me Your ways, Lord, teach me Your paths. Guide me in Your truth and teach me, for You are God my Savior, and my hope is in You all day long.” Psalm 25:3-5 Contact me at betsyclark47@yahoo.com to submit any Pearl news.
