Local athletes compete at state track meets

Boyd & Martinez compete at state track meet

The 2024 4A UIL State Championships for track were held on Thursday, May 2, at the Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin.

Vania Martinez won seventh place in the 3200-meter run with a time of 11:31.52. This was her second trip to state in three years.

Barrett Boyd won fifth place in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.17. She also won fifth place in pole vault with a height of 11-06.00.

This is Boyd’s last year to compete in high school track since she will be graduating in May and will be attending the United States Air Force Academy.

Oglesby Tigers claw their way to finish line

The 2024 1A UIL State track Championships were held on Thursday, May 2, at the Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin.

Kyler Fossett won seventh place in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.36. He also won fourth place in high jump with a time of 6-00.00.

Kayson Campbell won ninth place in the 400-meter dash with a time of 53.20.

In the 4x100-meter relay race, the Oglesby Tigers won fifth place as a team with a time of 44.22.

Jonesboro track makes appearance at state meet

The 2024 1A UIL State Championship track meet was held on Thursday, May 2, at the Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin.

Although the Jonesboro Eagles did not place at the state meet, the team worked tirelessly throughout the meet to put forth their very best efforts.

Eric Thorman won eighth place in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 16.12.

Payton Brister won seventh place in shot put with a mark of 45-06.75.

In the 4x200 meter relay race, the Jonesboro Lady Eagles won ninth place as a team with a time of 1:54.63.
