Joby Tatum, age 84, of Gatesville, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, Sept. 17, 2023.
Graveside services were held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 20, at Rocking T Cemetery, with Pastor Ken Laney officiating.
Andra Jean Tatum “Joby” was born on July 21, 1939, in San Marcos to the late Andrew and Bernagene “Dixie” de’Steiguer Tiner. She grew up and attended school in San Marcos, graduating high school in 1957. She married Rudy Tatum on August 28, 1959, and the two moved to Gatesville in 1964. Joby was an accomplished barrel racer and horse person who had a special love for both horses and dogs.
Joby was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Rudy.
She is survived by her daughter Juli Rhodes and husband, Jeff; son, Preston Tatum and wife, Sarah; grandchildren, Kasey Sutton and wife, Ariel, Callie Pfaff and husband, Matt, Kirby Tatum and wife, Andrea, and Kendle Rhodes; and great-grandchildren, Shepherd, Southern, Emie Jo, and Shiloh.
The Tatum family would like to give special thanks to the staff at Mercy House and Amedisys Hospice Care.
In lieu of flowers, Joby’s family requests memorials be made to the Boys and Girls Club, 2533 E. Main Street, Gatesville, TX 76528.
