Joann Fleetwood, age 91, of Gatesville, passed away on Friday, February 10, 2023, in Temple.
Graveside services at Davidson Cemetery will be announced at a later date.
Gisela Hannah Marie (Joann) Mueller-Neuhaus Fleetwood was born on December 17, 1931, in Kuestrin, Germany, which is now Poland, to the late Werner Richard Anton Mueller-Neuhaus and Liselotte Lungen Mueller-Neuhaus. Joann came to the United States with her husband, Cecil Fleetwood in 1953, and they moved to Gatesville in 1954.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Cecil Fleetwood in 1992; son, Dennis Fleetwood in 2019; and a grandson, Daniel Fleetwood in 2015.
Joann is survived by her sons, Kenny Fleetwood and wife, Sandie, Gene Fleetwood and wife, Donna, Rick Fleetwood and wife, Robyn; daughter-in-law, Brenda Fleetwood. She loved and cherished her eight grandchildren, Sarah, Olya, Wes, Tiffanie, Megan, Colin, Paige and Rianna; six great-grandchildren, Jackson, Carson, Lincoln, Annie, Blayne and Jackson, along with Cecily, who will be born in May.
Joann had an unwavering faith in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and was ready to be called home to Him. She was a member of Pecan Grove Baptist Church and spent years loving and serving others in need. Her spirit of love and generosity, along with a lifelong passion for learning, knowledge, travel, and independence is a gift passed down to her family.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorials be made to the Boys and Girls Club, 2533 E. Main Street, Gatesville, TX 76528, or Pecan Grove Baptist Church, 1110 Old Ft. Gates Rd., Gatesville, TX 76528.
