Head-on crash in Coryell County leaves three injured

Posted

The Texas Department of Public Safety responded to a head-on crash near Copperas Cove that left two drivers and one passenger severely injured, according to a Texas DPS press release.

The incident occurred on State Highway 9 on March 2 around 11:55 p.m. A 24-year-old Killeen male was traveling eastbound in a 2012 Honda Scion when a 19-year-old Copperas Cove male in a 2018 Audi traveling westbound approached the Honda.

According to the lead Texas DPS trooper, the Honda crossed into the path of the Audi, and the vehicles collided head-on. There was also a 24-year-old female passenger in the Audi who was not wearing a safety belt, DPS troopers say.

The two drivers and the passenger were transported to the hospital for “incapacitating injuries.”

Both drivers are believed to have been impaired, according to Texas DPS troopers.

The crash investigation is still active and open.

Texas DPS would like to remind drivers to never drive impaired, and that it increases the risk of being seriously injured or killed in a crash.
