GHS Choir brings home UIL trophies

Posted

Under the direction of the GISD choral directors Cherith Wells and Tim Klingler, choir students recently competed in UIL competition and received several awards. Wells said, “We had a fabulous time at UIL and came home with some serious hardware.”

The choir’s accomplishments included:

*Varsity Mixed earned perfect scores in both concert and sightreading and brought home the Sweepstakes.

*Varsity Treble also earned perfect scores in both concert and sightreading and brought home another Sweepstakes.

*JV Treble also brought home the Sweepstakes, and this is the first in GHS history for a Non-Varsity Treble Choir.

*Varsity Tenor/Bass brought home Division 1 (Superior) for their Concert and Division 2 (Excellent) for their Sightreading. (This was the first time they had taken a Varsity Boys group)

“We are over the moon proud of the kids, I wish I could quantify the hard work we've all put in to make this happen,” Wells said.
