Allman shines in GISD Student Spotlight

Posted

During the Dec. 11th meeting of the Gatesville Independent School District Board of Trustees, Willie Allman was honored during the Student Spotlight presentation.

GISD Superintendent Dr. Barrett Pollard described Allman as “one of the most personable students you will ever meet.”

Allman’s teachers had many kind things to say about him. Katherine Burnside stated that, “Will is such a bright light to have in class and brings all the laughs to my classroom.” Sarah Coker said, “In five years, I have never seen him without a smile on his face and a kind word to say to his peers and staff.” Coker also explained that William (without prompting from any teacher) wrote an email to her explaining his appreciation for everything she does. Gatesville High School principal, Liz Shoaf, said that Willie “has a knack for noticing when someone could use encouragement or a friendly greeting."

GHS Librarian Summer Erwin stated that Willie is a leader among his peers and isn’t afraid of putting himself out there. For example, she said that he plans and organizes a student-led Bible study and recruits students to come to prayer at the pole. Assistant Principal Clayton Floyd said that Willie “looks out for other students and makes GHS a better place every day.” Janey Weber described how Willie works with a kindergarten class as part of his practicum. She stated, “Willie has done an amazing job helping those students.”
