The Jeffrey Arnold Foundation announces its fi fth anniversary season of summer Festival Concerts, beginning Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the Dawson Cooper Exhibition Hall of the Coryell Museum and Historical Center. This summer’s three-concert series will open with “Soloists in America,” an Austin-based string duo featuring cellist Heitor Saucedo and violist Migel Gamboa, both of Mexico.

Night-time construction on Gatesville’s Main Street has been a familiar sight for the past few months. The project includes the reconstruction and resurfacing of the roadway from FM 116  o Texas Highway 36. Slowed by the rain, the project is nearing completion. The fi rst marriage licenses to same sex couples were issued Monday in Coryell County, following last week’s ruling by the U.S. Supreme Court that legalized same sex marriages in all 50 states. County Clerk Barbara Simpson confi rmed one marriage license was issued Monday in Gatesville and one in Copperas Cove. “I took an oath to uphold the laws of the United States of America and that’s what the law says,” Simpson said. Simpson added that her offi ce will treat same sex couples with the same respect as anyone else seeking a marriage license.
