Our time to shine!

Gatesville High School seniors celebrated their homecoming last week with the traditional bon fire. Seniors are responsible for gathering materials for the bon fire, which is set ablaze and monitored by the Gatesville Volunteer Fire Department. Some of the seniors are shown posing for a group picture before the bon fire is started.

District addresses Ebola concerns

The Ebola scare apparently has some in the Gatesville area very concerned. After news broke about two students in the Belton Independent School District who were on a plane with one of the health care workers who tested positive for the virus, Gatesville school officials began to receive phone calls from concerned parents.

Pushing the pile

Gatesville quarterback Jeff Speer, right, leans over the goal line for a touchdown despite having three Badger defenders on his back. The score, which was aided by a pair of Hornet linemen pushing from the back of the pack, was Speer’s second of the game, as the second-quarter touchdown helped propel Gatesville to a 38-20 homecoming victory over Lampasas on Friday.

Making memories

Gatesville freshman Alex Thompson scampers down the field while eluding Lampasas defenders Friday night in his first-ever varsity action.
