Weather puts school project behind schedule

Recent wet weather has been welcomed by many, but not by the construction crew building the new Gatesville Elementary School. Daniel McCowen and David Hathaway, of Lee Lewis Construction, told GISD trustees Monday night that the project is about a month behind schedule due to rainy and icy weather.

Disaster drill held

Coryell Memorial Hospital, along with the Gatesville Police Department, Gatesville Volunteer Fire Department and the Gatesville Independent School District participated in a disaster drill Tuesday. The drill was a project of the Central Texas Regional Advisory Council (CTRAC), which includes Bell, Coryell, Hamilton, Lampasas, Milam and Mills counties. The scenario involved a school bus wreck under icy conditions. Emergency workers are shown evacuating an “injured” student from the bus.

Hornets pick up playoff steam

In their final tune-up for the state playoffs, the Gatesville Hornet boys’ soccer team threw a shutout at the Salado Eagles in Gatesville on Monday. The warm-up match wound up on the plus side for the Hornets as they captured a 3-0 victory and improved their record to 17-3.
